About Us

Map of Canada, No Guff Press publishes gardening books for Canadians

Maybe you’ve started a gardening book and then thought, “I can’t do all this…it’s not practical for a home gardener!”

We get it.

At No Guff Press, we talk about gardening in a way that’s useful and interesting. We want Canadian gardeners to have fun, be creative, and succeed growing.

We believe there’s more than one way to garden. We won’t tell you how to garden. We give you practical ideas you can choose from — to help you be creative and do what suits you and your garden.

Our passion is practical, fun gardening information and inspiration for Canadian gardeners.

Canadian Gardening Books Since 2011

No Guff Vegetable Gardening, the first Canadian gardening book published by No Guff Press

We’re small and focused: Just books for the Canadian gardener. No Guff Press was founded by Canadian horticulturists and home gardening experts Donna Balzer and Steven Biggs.

Our first book was the Canadian favourite and bestseller, No Guff Vegetable Gardening. The book put a practical yet fun spin on cold-climate home gardening. Informed yet irreverent.

We’ve followed up with titles about gardening with kids and growing exotic crops in cold climates: figs, lemons, and olives.

Our most recent addition is the Canada Gardener’s Journal, a garden journal, garden planner, and sourcebook — all in one.
